Another Reason Why It’s A Great Place To Grow Up

The last six to twelve months we weren’t getting a lot of deer coming through, but the last few weeks they’ve returned fairly regularly. Our youngest loves to call out “Deer!” and then give us a head count. And invariably we all run to the front windows to watch the deer. Like our own personal wildlife park.

I appreciate the fact that the boys get to be exposed to nature in general, and particularly from the vantage point and comfort of our home – there always isn’t time to “go to” nature so it’s nice that nature comes to us in the meantime.

Later in the morning, from the elevated vantage point of our youngest’s bedroom window, we could even spy a doe bedded down in the woods, enjoying the sunshine and cleaning herself.

Four deer in our yard this morning after the rain stopped.

  1. We used to love the deer coming into our yard too, until they started eating all of our shrubs and even picked vegetables out of our garden. Now we enjoy them when they are in the bush surrounding our yard, not in our actual yard.
