Spring has sprung. Everything is greening up and the temperatures are warmer.
I haven’t been very inspired to write lately. The drudgery of life is all consuming. When I do eek out a moment of free time I’ve been glancing at a few new books. See the pictures for what I got. All three of them are pretty good.
Not much else is going on. Here are a variety of pics for today.
Another dead tree, this one along the nature trail, that is losing branches.
The easter bunny brought me this book. It has a variety of easy DIY projects for the homestead.
A frame from on of the hives. There is strange debris in the cells. Either sugar crystals or maybe larvae that froze over winter and exploded when they thawed.
These steel rings make the perfect outdoor fire ring. I spied these at Tractor Supply.
Adding sugar water to the top of one of the hives.
Chickens for sale at Tractor Supply. I want to take them all home.
I bought these two books and am currently reading them. Both look really good.
Water forms in the pond.
The large tree by the septic field lost more branches today.
Leaves are budding
Spider web.
I’m assuming this is one of the saplings I planted a couple years ago. Not sure why it’s not growing.
We lost this large tree by the septic field as a result of installing the field. It’s been losing branches.

Through our experience planting trees on our farm it really helps to keep the trees clear of any weeds and grass for a two-three foot radius, which minimizes competition for water and nutrients. We also water them in the spring and fall to help with root development. As they grow larger both of these steps are less crucial because the trees have a larger root base and are stronger.
